The Cruickshank Botanic Garden is located in Old Aberdeen, upon the University of Aberdeen's campus (Kings College).
I read that 'the Garden exists to promote an appreciation of the beauty, diversity and importance of plants, and understanding their role in the natural world' - which I think describes the purpose of the gardens perfectly. The garden is eleven acres and is open all year round and houses an important collection of over 2,500 labelled plants.
And the best part, it is of course, free to visit.
Steve and I visited the Botanic Gardens after a recommendation from a friend. We had absolutely no idea what to expect, and with every part of the garden we found something new and something amazing. My favourite part is definitely the walled garden, which looks very secretive and looks like it is going to be very small, but it is enormous! Its so beautifully maintained and even with all the interest it gains, it is well looked after and respected by all of the people that visit it.
As always in Adventure Aberdeen posts, Steve took some beautiful pictures (and so did I, not as good, but almost!) and I'll post them below so you can have a look at what to expect when visiting!
Enjoy!
